Welcome to our April newsletter for 2021.

In this edition we discuss some particularly important information for every one of our fantastic clients.

Two points of interest: Making a claim on your policy if the need arises; and
Our New AFSL Licensee.

Making an insurance claim under your policy

The covid pandemic has made us all more aware than ever the importance of life insurance. During these uncertain times we have seen an increase in insurance claims from a variety of injuries/illnesses, traumas and unfortunately even death. So, it is a timely moment to remind you of the procedure for reporting a possible claim and the rules that surround it.

When making a claim…

  1. Ring us as soon as a potential claim arises on: – 075526-8955.
This is particularly important so we can obtain the background to your claim, arrange the claim form/s and explain each step of the claim.
  2. Report and visit your Doctor (GP).
This is possibly the most important part of the claim process. Insurance Companies will not rely on your say or our word, as to when the accident/illness occurred and claim started. The Insurer will only start a claim after a GP or Specialist has been consulted.
As you are aware, each income protection policy has a waiting period. The claim starts after the waiting period has been exhausted. (14, 30, 60, 90 Days etc).
    – We have had a few recent cases where our clients have missed out on valuable income due to them not seeing their GP on the date of the injury/illness. Please ensure your speak to your GP as soon as you are sick or injured
  3. We will help you complete your claim form to lodge with the Insurer.
  4. We are also here to arrange the extra information the Insurer requires e.g.:
    a. Attending Dr’s Statement
    b. Medicare declarations
    c. Income Statements / Profit and Loss etc
    d. Proof of identification

Our New Licensee – AussLife Pty Ltd

Our New Licensee – AussLife Pty Ltd

We now have our own Australian Financial Services Licence, under AussLife Pty Ltd (AFSL no 526288). AussLife Pty Ltd received the licence on the 25th March 2021.

What does this mean to you? or The Policy Holder?

  • Nothing at all, except it helps us have more security over our client base and therefore offer you (our client) a more stable home for your risk insurance portfolio. Prior to us obtaining the licence a third party, Auss Life Pty Ltd, held the licence which AGLS was authorised under.
  • You will notice some small changes around our disclosures and compliance material, however overall, it will not affect your current relationship with us and does not affect any of your current policies you hold with us.
